The musicians
of Newberry's Victorian Cornet Band are a group of dedicated professional
and semi-professional brass, reed and percussion players who have
spent a great deal of time studying 19th-century band music and
playing instruments that were built between 1870-1900. A performance
by NVCB is as close to that of a late 19th-century professional
touring band as possible today. The configuration of the band
reflects the flexibility of the times. Performances range from
as few as 6 brass players to a full-sized band of over 30 players.
The usual touring group, however, consistst of 17 reed, brass,
and percussion players.
